Get Siri to Flash Your Car with New VW Car-Net Functionalities

Volkswagen is integrating Siri into its Car-Net app, enabling owners to control their car by speaking into their phone.

The features are still fairly limited but are a sign of VW’s intent. So far, owners can lock, unlock, check the estimated distance to empty, enable flash or flash and honk their car from their phone.

Owners can also defrost their cars, set the temperature, and start or stop charging their e-Golf with personalized phrases.

“We are constantly looking at innovative ways to make VW Car-Net more convenient and relevant for our customers,” said Abdallah Shanti, EVP, Global Chief Information Officer Volkswagen Brand & Car-IT. “With Siri Shortcuts, creating voice commands to use with our mobile app was a great opportunity to do just that! Integration with Siri helps our drivers keep eyes on the road and hands on the wheel.”

The service is available on Apple devices with iOS 12 and owners must be logged into the VW Car-Net app.

PZM 73rd Rally Poland Kicks Off

The WRC is in Poland and after only one stage there are three Volkswagens in the top five. Today’s special stage at the Mikolajki Arena is the first stage, but the rally doesn’t begin in earnest until Friday. Today’s super special stage was less than two minutes long, and less than a second separates the top five drivers. Hyundai Motorsport’s Thierry Neuville tops the charts today, followed closely by Volkswagen’s Andreas Mikkelsen. Sebastien Ogier and Jari-Matti Latvala are in fourth and fifth, respectively.
