Volkswagen Amarok Facelift Spied Cold Weather Testing

[See image gallery at www.vwvortex.com] For auto manufacturers, the winter signifies an increase in cold weather testing, putting their upcoming models through conditions unimaginable to most. The north of Sweden seems to be a popular location for the Volkswagen Group to conduct such tests, so much so that they’ve got a base in the town of Arvidsjaur, where temperatures can be 176F lower than what is experienced in the deserts of Nevada.

Reciently, our pals at CarPix spotted an updated Amarok pickup testing with what appears to be an updated front end and minor interior revisions, as made evident by the disguised dashboard. We’re hearing that the Amarok will receive the updated corporate ‘face’ in 2017, along with updated infotainment and powertrain revisions.

Although we have yet to see these changes, we’re willing to be that our lust for the Amarok will remain unchanged.

More 3.0-Liter TDI Settlement Details Expected by January 31

Volkswagen and the TDI Plaintiff’s Steering Committee were in court today for another status conference following the agreement in principal reached earlier this week. Little new information was given at the conference held before Judge Charles Breyer today, but the court ordered the parties to develop a formal settlement agreement, class action notices, and a class notice plan by January 31, 2017. For now, though, owners still don’t know how much to expect in compensation. Elizabeth Cabraser, lead Counsel for the Plaintiff’s Steering Committee reaffirmed in a statement today that the compensation would be “substantial.” The potential cost to Volkswagen is widely reported to exceed $1 billion, though, with an additional $225 million going into an environmental trust to help offset excess emissions.
