New Porsche 935 Track Car is Absolutely Bonkers

Porsche has outdone itself this time.

The German automaker presented a new track-only creation based on the 911 GT2 RS at the Rennsport Reunion VI at Laguna Seca today called the 935. The vehicle is a modern-day recreation of the legendary 935 Moby Dick – a massively turbocharged take on the 1978 930 911 with an elongated tail designed specifically for the long straights and continuous bends of Le Mans.

Powering this track-only beast is a 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged flat six making 700 hp, which is paired with a seven-speed PDK transmission. It also gets massive iron brakes with six-piston calipers up front and four-piston calipers in the rear, built-in air jacks, a 115-liter fuel tank and a roll cage. The body, which has been widened and lengthened considerably, is made of lightweight carbon fiber reinforced polymer and integrates a massive rear wing for untold amounts of downforce. Aero enhanced wheels inspired by the 935 enhance the exterior look, along with the endplate LED lights from the 919 Hybrid LMP1 car and the wing mirrors from a 911 RSR.

Inside the 935 gets the steering wheel from a 911 GT3 R, a digital instrument cluster with racing software by Cosworth, Recaro seats with six-point harnesses, a fire suppression system and a center console map switch for adjusting the ABS, traction control and stability control. Surprisingly, Porsche’s also decided to give the 935 air conditioning – that way you don’t have to rely on the wind to cool you down during those extra hot track days.

Porsche says the 935 is “geared towards clubsport events and private training on racetracks.” But just like nearly every track-only special before it, such as the P1 GTR and Aston Martin Vulcan, someone is bound to stick a license plate on one of these a register it for road use. Audi Teases the e-tron’s Headlights Ahead of LA Reveal

Audi will unveil its new electric car, the e-tron GT, in just a few short days, but until then, it will do what manufacturers can’t help but do and will tease it mercilessly. The latest teaser images first appeared on Germany’s Bild , and feature some of the EV’s lighting. While the taillights look reasonably familiar, albeit on an interesting, angular surface, the headlights feature a heretofore unseen light shape.
