Audi Launches its Own Subscription Service – But Only in Texas For Now

The subscription service is called Audi Select and will give customers access to a variety of Audi vehicles for a flat fee of $1,395 a month, Automotive News reports. They will be able to swap out vehicles a maximum of two times per month and will have access to the A4, A5 convertible, S5 coupe and Q5 or Q7 crossovers. They can also hold any vehicle for up to six months. Vehicle selection will be subject to availability at the five participating dealerships.

While prices may seem steep for something that only provides access to a range of mid-tier Audi products, subscribing to the program will also give the customer 24 days of free Audi rentals through the automaker’s own Silvercar rental car company. This could be handy if you travel frequently, as Silvercar operates in almost every major US market including New York, LA and Miami.

Audi Select follows in the footsteps of rivals at Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Cadillac, Porsche and others, which have also launched their own respective subscription services in pilot form. Audi Select is on the low end in regards to cost – it’s cheaper than BMW’s ($2,000/mo), Cadillac’s ($1,500/mo), Porsche’s ($2,000-$3,000/mo) and BMW’s ($2,000-$3,700/mo). It’s more than the entry-level of Mercedes Collection, however, which starts at $1,095/mo and extends to $2,995 for access to range-topping AMG vehicles.

Volvo has its own version called Volvo Care, which costs $600 a month. For that price, the customer gets access to an XC40 crossover and has all insurance, taxes and maintenance fees covered. They can’t swap the car out for another product, though. Lexus is also offering a similar program with the recently launched UX crossover, although it has yet to provide details on the program.

Audi Teases the e-tron’s Headlights Ahead of LA Reveal

Audi will unveil its new electric car, the e-tron GT, in just a few short days, but until then, it will do what manufacturers can’t help but do and will tease it mercilessly. The latest teaser images first appeared on Germany’s Bild , and feature some of the EV’s lighting. While the taillights look reasonably familiar, albeit on an interesting, angular surface, the headlights feature a heretofore unseen light shape.
