Skoda Introduces the Most Powerful Octavia of All Time

The Skoda Octavia recently had a makeover to improve looks and performance, and now Skoda has announced even more performance updates, with the new 230 hp Octavia vRS, the most powerful Octavia ever.

Skoda gave the new version an extra 10 hp as a gift to the Octavia vRs, which is celebrating its 15^th anniversary this year. Way back in 2001, the Octavia vRS Mk1, was the most powerful Skoda ever, making 180 hp.

Now that it’s well into its third generation, the vRS , thanks to Volkswagen’s 2.0-liter TSI or TDI engines.

Unfortunately, the TDI only makes 184 hp, but it does come with optional 4×4-wheel drive. Both engines come standard with a 6 speed manual or an optional 6-speed DSG.

The TSI gets to 60 mph in just 6.7 seconds, while the TDI will do the same in 7.9 seconds.

Progressive steering, Performance Mode Select, and Performance Sound Generator are all available on the vRS.

PZM 73rd Rally Poland Kicks Off

The WRC is in Poland and after only one stage there are three Volkswagens in the top five. Today’s special stage at the Mikolajki Arena is the first stage, but the rally doesn’t begin in earnest until Friday. Today’s super special stage was less than two minutes long, and less than a second separates the top five drivers. Hyundai Motorsport’s Thierry Neuville tops the charts today, followed closely by Volkswagen’s Andreas Mikkelsen. Sebastien Ogier and Jari-Matti Latvala are in fourth and fifth, respectively.
