Volkswagen just revealed the first design sketches of its replacement for the CC and we already have the first inklings of what its variants will be.
Despite having a vaguely cringy name, the Arteon does actually look pretty good. But there’s one way that it could look even better and tease Americans in the process: by becoming a wagon.
That’s right, VW’s head of full-size products, Elmar-Marius Licharz, revealed to Autocar that a wagon-version of the Arteon is being considered.
“The first thing we must see is the market reaction to the standard car,” Licharz said to Autocar. “If we are to make derivatives of this car then it needs a good base, but we do think that a shooting brake is absolutely the sort of car that could work. First it needs a business case, but it looks quite good.”
Our in house car designer took the morning to sketch an Arteon wagon, using the latest in design software (MS Paint). Said designer was, admittedly, fired from his previous position, but if you squint a lot the Arteon looks like it could handle the shooting brake treatment.
