Bad news for Volkswagen yesterday, as Reuters is reporting that the California Air Resources Board has formally rejected the brand’s proposal to fix affected 2.0 TDI-powered vehicles. Claiming that the fix “falls far short of meeting legal requirements”, CARB seems to have taken the most issue with a lack of specifics in the plan, and that the plan could not be implemented quickly enough. After this report was published, the EPA issued a statement saying that they agree with CARB’s assessment, although the agency will hold their own meeting with Volkswagen today. CARB’s assessment of the proposed fix for 3.0 TDI-powered vehicles will happen on February 2nd.
