One of the nice things about the Paris Motor Show is that there are a number of pavilions and not all of them have new cars in them. One of the finest exhibitions at the show was the one that featured prominent cars from pop culture.
How much do the French know about movie motors? Quite a lot, it turns out. As you enter the doors, you’re greeted by a dumpy Peugeot convertible that was driven by Lt Columbo across the aisle from two Aston Martins driven by 007.
Follow the red carpet through the dark pavilion and you find the Ghostbusters Cadillac, Kitt from Knight Rider, the General Lee, Herbie the Love Bug, and a pair of cars driven by Steve McQueen.
One of the coolest features of the exhibition, though, was the Audi R8 V10 Plus created for the film KINGSLAIVE: Final Fantasy XV. With ornate rims that matched the ornate details on the black car, the R8 had no shortage of interesting angles to gawk at.
Not all of the cars are instantly recognizable. Some were clearly from French or European films, but even they can be pretty interesting. There’s a Citroen SM, an old Renault limousine, and more great stuff that you don’t see much back home.
