Uber Driver Picks People Up in a Veyron

The word “prank” gets thrown around a lot, and I’m not sure that this video is using it properly. This is more like a pleasant surprise.

In this pleasant surprise video, a highly excitable and mildly irritating Uber driver tells people he will pick them up in a Toyota Previa (which he insists on calling a Preeva), but rolls up in a yellow and chrome Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse instead.

The video becomes amusing when the passengers get the gag. They all seem genuinely excited about the car, and their giggles and smiles are contagious.

They’re then treated to a pretty significant bit of acceleration as the driver whose isn’t worth committing to memory puts his foot down. It’s easy to become numb to the numbers that super car manufacturers bandy about, but seeing someone’s real reaction to big speed is a nice reminder of what it’s really all about.

It’s a pretty uncomplicated video of people enjoying what is undoubtedly the best Uber ride of their lives.

PZM 73rd Rally Poland Kicks Off

The WRC is in Poland and after only one stage there are three Volkswagens in the top five. Today’s special stage at the Mikolajki Arena is the first stage, but the rally doesn’t begin in earnest until Friday. Today’s super special stage was less than two minutes long, and less than a second separates the top five drivers. Hyundai Motorsport’s Thierry Neuville tops the charts today, followed closely by Volkswagen’s Andreas Mikkelsen. Sebastien Ogier and Jari-Matti Latvala are in fourth and fifth, respectively. Expect Ogier to climb the rankings, though. Not only did he win the rally last year, he has won every year since 2013.
