Bugatti Chiron Spied Ahead of Geneva Debut

Well that was quick.  Earlier today, Bugatti confirmed both the ‘Chiron’ moniker and a Geneva Motor Show debut for its next hypercar.  Just a few hours later, Brian Williams from SpiedBilde sent over shots of the car, appearing largely undisguised with simple matte black paint, undergoing road testing with German plates.  And now that we’ve got a pretty good idea of how it’ll look, we can further speculate other pertinent details. Based on the generous side vent and very familiar grille layout, we expect this Chiron to be much the same as a Veyron underneith, sticking to W16 power, although reports have hinted that the retail version might have as much as 1,500hp, up from the Veyron Super Sport’s relatively tame 1,184.  All we know for sure is that it’ll be quick, and we won’t be able to afford one. Look out for more updates on the upcoming Bugatti as we get closer to Geneva. The post Bugatti Chiron Spied Ahead of Geneva Debut appeared first on VWVortex . from...

USP Presents Billet Spulen Spherical Catch Can Kits for 2.0TSI and 2.0T FSI

With the introduction of direct injection engines, intake valve carbon buildup has become a common occurrence especially on the 2.0T engines. Carbon buildup on the intake valves is largely attributed to oil vapors being recirculated back into the intake system. While the 2.0T does feature a factory oil separator, it is prone to failure and does a poor job of separating oil from air that is recirculated into the engine’s intake. In order to reduce intake valve carbon build up and properly separate oil vapors from recirculated air, a catch can system is needed. Far from ordinary, the Spulen Spherical Catch Can installs adjacent to your coolant reservoir and provides a factory appearance. The purpose of a catch can is to capture oil vapors from your engine rather than allowing to be recirculated back into the engine. By capturing these oil vapors your engine will run more efficiently and avoid costly carbon build up on engine components. The Spulen Billet Catch Can is a true piece of a...

Roadtrip Recap: To SEMA and Back

“You did what? ” an employee at the MGM asked, as Head of Sales John Acton and I stood before her, tired, and wearing the sort of cologne that can only be earned from nearly 30 hours of driving through the desert.  “That was pretty stupid,” she continued.  Neither of us had the energy to disagree.  And even if we did, we probably wouldn’t have bothered. When the plan was originally hatched to drive to SEMA rather than fly (although I would take a plane from Philadelphia to Chicago before officially beginning the trip), words like “nice”, “fun”, and “relaxing” were tossed around casually.  It’d been years since either one of us had done the trip in admittedly less quiet and comfortable vehicles than a new GTI, and nostalgia kept the reality of a 28 hour drive far from our minds.  Even as we started, it didn’t really seem so bad.  Illinois and Iowa were gone in rapid succession. Even Nebraska was fun for a little bit, but tongue-in-che...

First Drive: 2016 Volkswagen Passat

To state the obvious, Volkswagen is at a crucial time in their company’s history. Marred by ongoing TDI issues and the additional fallout yet to come, their time and money needs to be well spent. Although the newest Passat was well underway before any of this came to light, it’s now being met with cynicism that has cast a large shadow over the entire brand.  And that’s a real shame, because some have gone as far to call this new Passat the best Volkswagen has ever made.  Recently, we spent some time with the updated 2016 model to see if it’s worthy of that title. At first glance, those less detail-oriented will struggle to see the difference between the old Passat and the newly redesigned 2016 model. The recipient of an extremely subtle transformation, the new car is completely new from the A-pillar forward, with the most striking of changes occurring in the headlights and new hood, featuring a quasi power-bulge running down the center. While not quite as...
