Volkswagen Australia Announces Wolfsburg Edition Golf R Models

  • Highly-anticipated, first-ever Golf R Wagon to be offered in limited numbers as Wolfsburg Edition model
  • Golf R hatch Wolfsburg Edition also offered in limited numbers concurrently with the existing Golf R model
  • Named after the home of Volkswagen, Wolfsburg Edition Golf R models offer exclusive features and enhanced specification over standard Golf R

Sydney – Volkswagen Australia is pleased to announce the impending arrival of the limited run Wolfsburg Edition Golf R models, which also introduces the hotly anticipated Golf R Wagon, available solely in Wolfsburg Edition specification.

The Wolfsburg name is as synonymous with Volkswagen as the very first Beetle that was produced in the German town these special edition models are named after. Wolfsburg is the home of Volkswagen’s global operations, and the iconic ‘wolf and castle’ emblem that adorns the Golf R and Golf R Wagon Wolfsburg Edition cars is a tribute to the ancestral roots of the Volkswagen brand.

Adding a unique, higher specification over the standard Golf R hatch, the Golf R and Golf R Wagon Wolfsburg Edition models include a number of key distinguishing features. Key specification highlights include:

  • Choice of three exterior colours including the exclusive Oryx White Pearl
  • Carbon Nappa leather appointed upholstery with individually heated front seats
  • Black Pretoria 19” alloy wheels (4)
  • Black door mirror covers
  • Black roof rails (Wagon)
  • Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)
  • Front Assist with City Emergency Brake (City EB)
  • Proactive occupant protection system
  • Blind Spot Monitor with rear traffic alert
  • Wolfsburg crest badge

The comprehensive equipment package adds a retail price premium of just $1,750 to the Golf R series model, arriving at a recommended retail price of $56,990. At $58,990, the Golf R Wagon Wolfsburg Edition carries a $2,000 wagon premium.

With such a high level of standard specification, the only option available is a panoramic electric glass sunroof, at RRP $1,850.

Both models offer excellent value and unparalleled exclusivity; especially in the case of the Golf R Wagon, which is currently only available in limited numbers as the Wolfsburg Edition for Australian customers.

Both of these limited-run models will feature the outstanding performance credentials of the Golf R’s 206kW TSI engine and 4Motion all-wheel-drive.

The Golf R and Golf R Wagon Wolfsburg Edition models are available for customers to order now from Volkswagen Australia’s dealer network.

Review: Saying Goodbye to the CC V6

For all its size and its global reach, Volkswagen is still, in many ways, a deeply human company. There was, for instance, the Bugatti Veyron an ego project if ever there was one. Then the purchase of Ducati, a move most called folly. And then there was the Phaeton, the Volkswagen that most folks can’t afford. Not only were these moves all strange, I’m sure that they made VW’s accountants furious. None of them made good business sense, but they were all deeply interesting and they all are evidence of the heart that beats at the center of VW. Among these follies is the CC, a car that everyone agrees is rakishly handsome, but that no one really wanted to buy. The car couldn’t last, but the world is brighter for its having been in it. With the approach debut of the Arteon, it seems like a good time to look back on its sadly departing predecessor. The version I drove, because I live in Canada, is a V6 Wolfsburg Edition, which apparently isn’t available in the States. Nor is the V6, not as...

More 3.0-Liter TDI Settlement Details Expected by January 31

Volkswagen and the TDI Plaintiff’s Steering Committee were in court today for another status conference following the agreement in principal reached earlier this week. Little new information was given at the conference held before Judge Charles Breyer today, but the court ordered the parties to develop a formal settlement agreement, class action notices, and a class notice plan by January 31, 2017. For now, though, owners still don’t know how much to expect in compensation. Elizabeth Cabraser, lead Counsel for the Plaintiff’s Steering Committee reaffirmed in a statement today that the compensation would be “substantial.” The potential cost to Volkswagen is widely reported to exceed $1 billion, though, with an additional $225 million going into an environmental trust to help offset excess emissions. Buy back offers are still only expected for the oldest 20,000 of the roughly 80,000 VW Group vehicles sold in America with the 3.0-liter TDI engine. Those vehicles are mostly SUVs, like ...
