MOMO Edition 2016 Volkswagen Jetta GLI Debuts at SEMA

There are many questions that can be prefaced by “What if…” and this 2016 VW Jetta GLI 2.0T is the answer to the question, “What if Volkswagen were to offer a MOMO Edition of its successful sports compact.” The result is a vehicle that is best described as OEM-plus. It maintains all of the benefits of the turbocharged VW sedan, but gives it greater focus for the sports-oriented driver. It also boasts a dash of Italian style, with aggressive 19” MOMO light alloy road wheels, an attractive MOMO steering wheel and a vibrant interior treatment based on MOMO’s signature red and yellow color scheme. The 19 x 8.5” MOMO Revenge wheels represent the first “mesh” wheel design from MOMO in almost 30 years.
It is a split-10 spoke wheel with a concave center and raised cap detail. It is available in matte anthracite, as used here, and matte black. The new MOMO Revenge EVO wheel, which will offer the same sharp design but a brand new finish, will be released in 2016. With an aggressive offset, t

GRC: Volkswagen Andretti Rallycross Ready to Celebrate First Championship in Las Vegas

Team enters season finale with a lock on the 2015 championship title Herndon, VA —  No matter the result on track, Volkswagen Andretti Rallycross (VARX) will be celebrating at the Red Bull Global Rallycross season finale in Las Vegas. After four consecutive wins and double podium finishes, VARX teammates Scott Speed and Tanner Foust are the only drivers left in the running for the 2015 driver’s championship. Even with a championship already secured, the team does not plan to rest on its laurels; a shot at the manufacturer’s title and team pride means that everyone will be pushing for another strong result to round out the year. Scott Speed finally gained the championship lead after collecting a second-place finish in the first of two rounds in Barbados last month. The driver of the No. 41 ORAFOL Volkswagen Beetle GRC added to his lead in the second leg of the doubleheader, claiming another runner-up finishing position. He now sits 36 points ahead of teammate Foust, within sight of

Roadtrip Alert- We’re Driving to SEMA

Like so many brilliant ideas before it, it all started over a beer.  “I haven’t done anything stupid in a really long time”, I told John Acton, our Head of Sales.  Sure, we are both fortunate enough to travel for work quite often, but the resulting inconsistency in personal schedules doesn’t leave much chance for spontaneity.  Yes, it’s a first world problem.  No, I’m not ashamed to admit it.  And luckily, John felt the same. So a plan was hatched, and now we’re staring down the barrel of one of the most ambitious road trips we’ve ever attempted.  This Sunday morning, I’ll make the nearly two-hour trek from our Central Pennsylvania office to Philadelphia’s International Airport in order to catch a plane destined for Chicago O’Hare.  Once safely on the ground, John will pick me up in a Mk7 GTI, and we’ll depart for Las Vegas- a roughly 25 hour journey, which we’ll be tackling in one shot.  This means that at some point on Monday afternoon, we’ll roll into Sin City tired, sweaty, and cr

Sidney Industries Widebody GTI Coming to Essen

Over the past few years, aggressively flared bodykits have come into their own, spurred on in part by the stance scene and the ever-increasing popularity of JDM tuning styles.  More recently, the treatment has been applied heavily to Porsche models by Rauh Welt, Scion FR-S/Toyota BRZ by Rocket Bunny, and most everything else by Liberty Walk.  But for this year’s Essen Motor Show, Sidney Industries will be porting this style to the Mk7 GTI, and we must admit it looks quite good. Using lines reminiscent of those found on the Renault R5 Turbo, mixed with something straight out of the BTCC, this GTI certainly will turn heads in Germany at the end of November. SEMA Bound: Let’s get Dynamic

Now that MOMO’s 2015 SEMA project Jetta GLI is sounding the part, thanks to an exhaust system from Milltek, it’s time to focus making the car more dynamic from a driving perspective.  Namely, it’s time to address brakes and suspension, with help from OEM suppliers and aftermarket superstars Brembo and H&R. As one of the most notable OEM suspension suppliers, H&R’s Street Performance Coilovers and Sway Bars were one of the easiest choices made by the team on this project.  Most importantly, the same standards that H&R holds their OEM pieces to are applied to their vast line of aftermarket suspension components, meaning the fit, finish and durability are all top notch. Without much hesitation, the team set to disassembling the GLI’s stock suspension and fitting the H&R upgrade.  As with all H&R pieces, the physical installation is incredibly straightforward.  Fast forward a couple of hours, and a few tweaks in the alignment and height department later, the GLI was
