As fairly large fans of both Jerry Seinfeld and cars in general, we’re pretty excited to watch each new episode of the funnyman’s “Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee” series on Crackle.  This week is just a bit more special for us though, as Jerry chooses to shuttle longtime friend Bill Maher in a vintage Volkswagen Beetle Police Car.  Originally employed by the Wolfsburg Police Department, this 1979 Beetle is done in full Polizei livery with all the necessary cop gear, including roof-mounted lights, sirens and loud speaker.  It’s a car that clearly sticks out in the LA area traffic while being a bit ridiculous, and therefore is quite possibly the perfect vehicle for the two comedians. As you can see from the brief clip above, the comedians have been friends for quite some time, and their chemistry is undeniable.  After watching the full episode , we can say that while this episode isn’t necessarily the funniest to ever be uploaded, it still provides the insight...

Do you have a Mechanical or Automotive Engineering degree and a keen eye for data analysis?  If so, Volkswagen Motorsport just might be looking for you. In a tweet this morning, Volkswagen Motorsport posted a job listing for a new ‘Performance Data Engineer’ to join their ever-expanding team.  This extremely fortunate individual would follow Volkswagen Motorsport around the world to act as a data engineer during tests, rally, and other events, and be responsible for telling other specialized teams how they can make racecars faster.  Seems like a bit of a dream job, doesn’t it? Volkswagen Motorsport says the ideal candidate will have a degree in the fields mentioned above, be fluent in both German and English, and a high level of technical knowledge among other things.  May the best person win. According to a report published yesterday by Auto Bild , Volkswagen is looking to make the next-generation Jetta a bit larger than the outgoing car, and style it using design elements from the New Midsize Coupe concept shown last year.  Volkswagen says that the current Jetta is a bit too small for the current world market, and expanding the car to be a bit closer to the Passat in size would allow more potential buyers to consider it.  Along with the increase in physical size, the car would also come with a more upscale interior and infotainment system to appeal to more upscale buyers. What we do know, is that the new car will move to Volkswagen’s MQB platform and will therefore likely be produced for the North American market in Puebla, Mexico.  From what we’re hearing, we will begin to see the vehicle in concept form shortly, with a full production model coming sometime in 2017. Great success for Volkswagen’s Das Auto Magazine at this year’s renowned “Best of Corporate Publishing” competition, where the brand magazine took home two Gold and two Silver medals. This is Volkswagen’s most successful year ever in the competition.  The two Gold awards went to the video “Roads to Freedom,” about the car designer Giorgetto Giugiaro and the mobile app of Das Auto Magazine. “We are particularly pleased about this honor, because Das Auto Magazine operates on an ambitious global magazine platform, featuring the highest quality standards for storytelling and format diversity,” Anders Sundt Jensen, Head of Volkswagen Marketing Communications said. The Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo North America series rolls into Watkins Glen International this weekend for two rounds of action on the historic racetrack in upstate New York.  Competitors will be on-track for two 50 minute main event races around the 3.4 mile circuit, capping a week which saw Super Trofeo action take place in Europe and Asia.  For those who can’t make it to upstate New York, the race will be broadcast on CBS Sports at a later date.
