GTI Club Sport? Hmm…

This is one of those times where we get pictures from one of our spy photographers that hangs out at the Nurburgring and no one is quite sure what to make of the car that was photographed. Outwardly it looks like a GTI that someone modified (and we use that term loosely). The Wiechers stickers on the sides are from a German company that makes roll cages. The weird thing is that the “Sport” part of the sticker on the side was removed and stuck to the hood. The rear spoiler is hideous and a complete afterthought. So if VW engineers were trying to throw people off, this could do it. However the car has the normal performance pack brakes instead of the Golf R brakes which you would assume would be part of some kind of higher performance package. There have been rumors of both a Golf RS (which we don’t think this is) and a Golf GTI/R EVO with a 2.0TFSI with more power and light weight. Either way I’m not sure anyone knows at this point so we’ll run the photos and you guys can run your imagi...

Golf R Wagon?

Volkswagen R has been saying lately that they plan to expand the R lineup across more models. The overall strategy seems to mirror Audi where there is a lower “R-Line” version and then a full “R” version. Rumors from the German press talk of an “RS” model as well in the future. So it makes sense that VW would consider building a Golf R Variant/Wagon. Dipping into the parts bin from the Golf R is pretty straight forward and other than a custom rear valance for the Variant, the changes would be minimal. Caught testing at the Nurburgring this week is this supposed test mule of a possible Golf R Variant/Wagon. We can only hope that with Golf 7 production being in Mexico now, that we get something like this as well. Let us know what you think in the comments below and we’ll pass them along to Volkswagen of America. The post Golf R Wagon? appeared first on VWVortex . from VWVortex http://ift.tt/OVIjQK via IFTTT

Potential Amarok to the United States market?

Volkswagen  is set to sell more vehicles than any other brand in the United States by 2019 - according to many analysts.  Shouldn't that involve one of the most signature American vehicles - the pickup truck?  The largest pickup market in the world certainly would provide a warm welcome to the VW brand would it not?   There have been talks, rumors and debate over bringing this extraordinary truck into the US segment for years.  The very flirtation of it makes US VW enthusiasts get excited.  Thus far it hasn't happened and largely because of a misconception that the truck is too small for the American buyers.   Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon will be on the watch list of Volkswagen as these trucks are about to show why so many of us have wanted the midsized Amarok to come to the United States. Stay tuned and keep your fingers crossed VW fans and enthusiasts!   http://vordermanvw.com

Geneva Auto Show Report 2014

The Geneva Moto Show or Salon International de l’Auto as it is known in Geneva, Switzerland is held each March and dates back to 1905. Among the big “international” shows, Geneva is one of the best. Not only is it host to all the typical run-of-the-mill manufacturers, it is also a major “style” show and as such draws everything from famed coach works and design houses like Pinininfarina and Bertone but also aftermarket tuners all on the main show floor. Geneva is unique in this regard and it is part of what makes it such a great show. Geneva is also the last major international stage to debut new vehicles before the auto show season winds down for the summer. This means lots of new introductions to keep things interesting. We’ll highlight a few of the things featured by Volkswagen and the group brands in addition to some of the more interesting cars we saw on display. Be sure to click on the full gallery of photos at the very end. VOLKSWAGEN The big concept introduction at Gene...
