Well, good news, we recently received spy shots of the Skodiaq testing at the Nurburgring, which suggests that along with that attractive Skoda price, the Skodiaq will come with some performance, too. Along with performance and value, the Skodiaq comes with up to seven seats and an attractive, Vision S-like body. The SUV is expected to come with a range of engines including a 1.4L 150hp option, and a 2.0L engine with 180hp or 220hp. Please excuse the listicle headline, but sometimes the form is useful, as, for instance, in the case of Volkswagen’s new realignment. The complicated process of climbing out of the diesel scandal is full of meaningless jargon and business talk, which obfuscates as much as it clarifies. Fortunately for us all, Volkswagen had their Annual General Meeting today, and CEO Matthias Muller went into further detail about the plan for Volkswagen’s future. The important takeaways are as follows: 30 Fully Electric Cars by 2025 As has been widely reported Volkswagen expects to have 30 electric  vehicles on the market by 2025, and it hopes that these cars will account for 25% of the Group’s sales volume. That means that the Group will be selling 2 to 3 million electric vehicles per year in 10 years. “We are determined to make e-mobility a new hallmark of Volkswagen,” says Muller. The European New Car Assessment Programme (NCAP) is the benchmark for European automotive safety and this year its tests have gotten even tougher, but that hasn’t stopped the new Tiguan from getting the highest possible rating of five stars. Thanks to its suite of safety features, including optimized body structure, its wealth of airbags, and its driver assistance systems, the Tiguan achieved a 96% on the safety test for adults. For children, it achieved an impressive 84% of possible points. This is the first time that a test for back seat occupants has been conducted. With standard ESC, Front Assist emergency braking, and lane assist systems, the new Tiguan also impressed in tests for pedestrian safety. The new Tiguan has been available in Europe since May, and should come to the US next Spring. And when I say few, I mean it. It’s estimated that only 40 genuine KdF Beetles remain, so this is actually a historically significant car, hence the colossal price tag of $295,000. The good news is that, after paying more than a quarter of a million dollars for this car, you can take the edge off the moral questionability of owning a NAZI car, by reminding yourself that this was, in fact, used by the German Red Cross, so, you know, there’s that. This extremely well maintained car is in showroom condition and features some really cool details, like the semaphore signals, the enormous amount of positive camber, and the throw cushions on the back seats! It’s a sad day for Volkswagen Motorsport, as Jost Capito, director of motorsport at VW, under whose leadership they have dominated the World Rally Championship, has finally set a date for his departure, reports motorsport.com. Capito’s move to McLaren has been known of since January, but until now no date had been set for his actual departure from VW. The delay came as a result of an agreement that he would find a suitable replacement before leaving. The silver lining, of course, is that the implication is that Capito has found a replacement he feels will be as good as he was. Still, though, Capito has taken Volkswagen Motorsport to 37 rally victories since 2013 and three World Rally Championships, so he leaves big shoes to fill. Capito will move onto the struggling McLaren F1 team in August or September. We will have more information as it becomes available. There’s nothing more tantalizing and frustrating than a foreign market car. Cars that can only be bought overseas are often weird, usually interesting, and always inspire curiosity because they reflect a different car culture with different needs. Even economy cars that should be painfully dull can be interesting when they’re unique to, say, India. It’s in that spirit that we present to you this video review of the Volkswagen Ameo from India’s Car Dekho. The review is a pretty standard, though charming, road test of a regular car. The reviewer, Cyrus Dhabhar, goes  through the usual metrics of size, power, and handling, but they’re all in reference to a segment that just doesn’t exist here, the sub-4-meter-(13-foot)-sedan , and that’s what makes this review so watchable. The movement of trailers cannot be understood by mere mortals. Sure, there are some who’ll, in a low, husky voice “Backing up a trailer? Easiest thing in the world.” These are what we, in the business call, liars. Backing up trailers is hard and that’s why Volkswagen is introducing Trailer Assist. Volkswagen’s optional, easy to use system is available in European Passats, Tiguans, and Tourans. The driver activates the system by pressing a key and sets the destination with the rearview camera, meters the brake, and lets the vehicle do the rest. Using the mirror adjuster knob as a sort of joystick, the driver can adjust the direction of travel whenever they like. Now that VW is offering more SUVs, the need for such a system makes sense, as the bigger vehicles have more towing capacity.
