Volkswagen’s American SUV push is anything but over and the automaker is now planning on expanding its American production.
Automotive News reports that VW’s Chattanooga, Tennessee plant will build a five-seater SUV, though no timeline for when that will begin has yet been revealed.
It may take some time before such a vehicle comes, though, because all of the SUVs that VW has announced are already attached to other factories. The new Tiguan, for instance, will be built in Mexico’s Puebla plant.
Now that Chattanooga builds the Atlas, though, it is set up to build MQB-based vehicles, so another SUV based on that platform wouldn’t be an enormous stretch.
Although VW has revealed all of the SUVs it wants to sell in the near future, the company previously expressed that it will reveal more SUVs before 2020, as part of its product offensive.
