Jianguai Automobile Co. (JAC) and Volkswagen will sign an agreement this month to produce pickup trucks in China, reports cnpickup.com, a Chinese website that covers the country’s pickup market.
The move comes after JAC chairman, An Jin, told the media in March that he wanted to establish a partnership with the VW Group.
At the time, it was one of the few state-owned Chinese automakers that wasn’t partnered with a foreign automaker. VW, meanwhile, has joint ventures with SAIC Motor Corp. and China FAW Group Corps.
Unfortunately, little more is known about VW’s venture with JAC at this time.
