Volkswagen’s I.D. VIZZION concept is saying ‘hello’ to the world — literally — ahead of its debut next week in Geneva.
The concept demonstrates a car that’s fully electric and fully autonomous, foregoing a steering wheel or visible controls of any kind. Volkswagen says that the I.D. VIZZION “demonstrates how elegant and emotional the design of a vehicle of the future can be.” It stands out, according to the company, for the mobility it lends to members of the population who can’t drive on their own, such as the aged. A virtual host interacts with passengesrs via voice and gesture control and learns the personal preferences of each one so that it can adapt to them individually.
With a total system power of 225 kW in the 5.11 metre long body powering all four wheels with two electric motors, it’s capable of a top speed is 180 km/h and a range of up to 665 kilometres with use of braking regeneration.
This is the fourth concept carrying Volkswagen’s I.D. monicker used on its electric car concepts, following on the original I.D. scheduled for production in 2020, the I.D. CROZZ electric crossover, and the I.D. BUZZ, an electric revival of the iconic VW Bus. By 2025, the brand has said it will introduce more than 20 electric vehicle models.
