Keen eyed newsies may be aware that Fiat Chrysler Automobiles CEO Sergio Marchionne yesterday told the media that he had no doubts “that at the relevant time VW may show up and have a chat” for a merger. Well, VW’s CEO ain’t got time Marchionne’s nonsense.
Matthias Mueller, speaking to Reuters today, rejected the suggestion.
“We are not ready for talks about anything,” said Mueller. “I haven’t seen Marchionne for months.” Adding “We have other problems.”
Marchionne’s comments came on the heels of PSA’s much publicized purchase of Opel. The German brand was formerly owned by GM, which company Marchionne has repeatedly offered to merge with.
So your chances of seeing a VW Ram or a Dodge Polo are slim to none.
Shame.
